Liverpool had high hopes for Le Tallec when he arrived in 2003

Liverpool midfielder Anthony Le Tallec has joined Le Mans following a series of loan spells with Le Havre, St Etienne, Sunderland and Sochaux.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Le Mans and has signed a four-year deal, with terms of the transfer undisclosed.
"I need stability, a sporting plan and Le Mans give me this chance," he said.
The Frenchman arrived at Anfield in 2003 when Gerard Houllier brought him in alongside Florent Sinama-Pongolle.
Both were team-mates in France's Under-17 World Cup-winning side of 2001 but Le Tallec failed to find any real form or consistency during his spell at Anfield.
He managed only one goal for the Reds, although he did play in the 2005 Champions League quarter-final against Juventus.
