Hot Swimwear Designer for 2008
Miami based designer Red Carter has yet again made a splash in the fashion world with his 2008 swimwear collection. Bold prints, vintage touches, and fine details put together by an expert eye create a look that is sophisticated and sexy with a hint of playfulness. A whimsical frilly-skirted bikini with a halter top is made chic and cool in all black. What at first looks like another zebra print bikini is, upon closer inspection, quite intricately designed, involving black sequins to match the zebra print and held together at the side by gold rings. And here is where he differs from your average swimsuits designer: the impeccable fit. The gold rings are curved at the side to fit your body, so that they don’t dig in to your skin.

His unique style has become popular for it’s innovation; his designs draw upon the past and look towards the future. “I want them to feel relevant,” Carter said about his customers. He manages to add flamboyance and whimsy without going over the top, making his swimsuits extremely wearable and popular.

Red Carter launched his swimwear line in 2004, after moving from California to Miami. Inspired by the city’s energy and art deco style, he decided to establish his line in Miami to contribute to the city’s creative culture. Each year since his brand has grown, with 2008 being his top year to date. This year Heidi Klum can be found in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in a Red Carter suit. Currently Red Carter debuts two swimwear collections a year. Red Carter swimsuits can be found at finer department stores such as Barney’s New York, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
